Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:3 “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. He also said in John 3:7 “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Being saved or “born again” is not a matter of opinion but a matter scripture. What does the Bible say?
The Bible tells us that we are all sinners.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:11 “There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.”
Romans 3:12 “They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Those verses give a pretty dismal view of mankind. It sounds as if mankind is hopeless, helpless in this world. “What can we do?” you may ask. The good news is that God has taken care of man's sinful state if we believe and trust in what He said.
The Bible says in Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Did you hear that? Christ died for us! That is the good news of the gospel! The Lord Jesus Christ did for us what we could not do for ourselves. He paid our sin debt for us. It was a debt He did not owe. He died for our sins because He loves us. So how do we receive this salvation?
Once again the book of Romans tells us:
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Friend if you will do what the Bible says and call upon the Lord, you will be saved. It is not a matter of religion or opinion but of scripture. Just ask Him in your own words to forgive you and save you. Will you trust the Lord today?
